A fast growing Biotech is looking for a key person to work with their Operations, Science R&D and Commercial teams who are having to set themselves up quickly to function in an integrated fashion - as one enterprise. This requires a large degree of automation and integration of core business processes, and new tools that will help accelerate our R&D and production of innovative products. To make this possible, a Lead Business Analyst is required to work closely with the Heads of departments and their nominated representatives to elicit, discover, validate, document, agree and present process automation and application/tool requirements to the IT/Software Engineering teams. The role will participate actively in testing custom-built and pre-packaged software to provide quality assurance, and carries the added responsibility of setting standards and coaching junior business analysts, acting as their functional lead.

Responsibilities include:

Liaising with Heads of Operations, Science R&D and Commercial teams and their nominated representatives to understand and shape their process automation and application software/tool needs.
Creating business process flow diagrams that capture the context for automation to a high standard, turning them into reusable documentation that can be used as references for further projects.
Analysing tool and application requirements in detail, gathering detailed requirements and documenting them using prevalent requirements documentation standards (user stories/Behaviour-driven Development).
Developing business cases and contributing to creating/detailing project proposal forms with relevant information including risks/mitigation and effort/cost estimates, for Data infrastructure and IT application development/procurement projects.
Researching features of third-party applications and off-the-shelf software and software modules (such as ERP) and producing validation reports against stated requirements of internal stakeholders.
Guiding science-focused analysts, bioinformaticians and data engineers on optimal and fit-for-purpose ways of capturing requirements for data tool and algorithm development.
Developing a robust set of Business Analysis standards and leading their implementation and adoption.
Leading the knowledge transfer of Requirements to development teams.
Participating in Agile development sprints as acting Product Owner, maintaining user story and feature backlogs and actively collaborating with business/science stakeholders in prioritising user stories and tasks for upcoming sprints.
Leading sprint retrospectives and help business/science stakeholders identify improvements to be included in product backlogs and be considered for future sprints.
Leading by example in the adoption of Agile methodologies and participating in the set up of tools (such as JIRA) for management of requirements and the project process.
Working with testing teams and business stakeholders to provide Quality Assurance, actively contributing to test plans, scripts and product testing cycles.

You will have:

A Bachelors' degree in Engineering, Computer Science or any other field that comes with a high degree of training in both structured analytical thinking and visual modeling of ideas.
An advanced Business Analysis certification from an industry-accredited body.
A minimum of eight years of overall experience in IT Business Analysis, and at least three years' as a Lead Analyst.

At least five years of experience in each of the following:

Writing user stories and requirements documentation, using the Behaviour-driven Development method.
Working in an Agile environment in medium-sized to large companies, participating in sprints as the product owner and leading sprint retrospectives.
Product backlog management.
Writing business cases - including performing cost and effort estimations and risks/dependencies/issues analyses.
Visual modelling of processes (using Visio or a similar tool) and annotating them with information on inputs, outputs, data transformations and roles.
Working in a complex data-driven business environment.
Working in a Cloud environment for application and data deployment.
Working with analysis of core business processes and requirements for third-party Operations' software, such as Financial and HR applications/ERP modules.
Working with a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

With essential experience and knowledge of:

Business Analysis standards.
