World renowned manufacturing client based in Birmingham requires a Manufacturing Technician for an initial twelve-months contract. There is a three-rota shift pattern, details below.
You will work as part of a team to contribute to delivering of Electronic Control Units on time to a high specification for the customer. These roles report directly to Production Leaders for the facility. You will have the ability to play an active role in continuous improvement within your cell, develop existing processes and implement process improvements. The skill set is CNC machining experience, including programming, and setting. Preferably on Doosan, Mazak or Matsura machinery.
The manufacturing technician role responsibilities
* Responsible to produce various metal components from valves to pistons within very tight tolerances.
* Setting and operating the machines, plant, and equipment to produce various OE and Aftermarket parts.
* Making any mathematical calculations and offsets associated with the use of precision measuring instruments with adjustments and the removal of metal to pre-determined dimensions and features as part of the method of manufacture.
* Responsibility to produce high specification aerospace components using electro plating methods such as nickel & lead indium plating.
* The setting up, preparation and process of product through anodising lines.
* The use of shot blast equipment to prepare parts for further processes.
* Ensuring product conformance through the careful inspection process to meet required specification and level of quality.
* Completing documentation to maintain traceability of products.
* Inputting and recording of data when processing components.
* Engaging with other team members to problem solve to ensure production deadlines are achieved.
* Ensuing the correct chemistry of process tanks is maintained by making additions and carrying out planned maintenance duties to the process lines
You will need
* Recognised time-served apprenticeship, including City and Guilds NVQ 3 or equivalent experience.
* CNC machining experience, including programming, and setting. Preferably on Doosan, Mazak or Matsura machinery.
* Confident in interpreting engineering drawings for use with precision measuring equipment.
* Knowledge & experience of a wide range of inspection techniques.
* IT Skills (MES/Microsoft applications/etc).
* Recognised time-served apprenticeship, including City and Guilds NVQ 3 or equivalent experience.

* PAYE or Umbrella pay structure
* 3 Shift rota (6-2 / 2-10 / 10-6)
* Several grades of pay depending on the rota point
